"Sweet Friday" is an essay by Lena Winkler who is a mother of 5 children, in medical school, and also going through a divorce. Even with her busy schedule Lena still has time for family traditions. Lena truly believes in traditions. It all started at an office Lena was working at, every Friday at 3 pm everyone takes a break and enjoys all types of desserts while connecting with one another. So Lena brought the tradition back home with her to her family and thought it would be a good way to keep every one's spirit up. So every Friday Lena's family and neighbors get together indulge in delightful deserts and conversations. Lena says her family looks forward to these gatherings every week. She also says that she is "creating a ritual to carry her family to the future."
In my opinion I feel that this was a very creative way to connect with family and friends and enjoy tasty treats at the same time. It's neat that she holds this tradition every once in a while. I also think this is a great way to keep your family close by holding family traditions consistently. Having everyone come out together is also a great way to just relax and and enjoy eachothers company. Lena is a very strong woman in my opinion and I think if she continues this tradtion it will have a very positive outcome!
